Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why does Afterdance have an onsite technician on every job?

A: Our onsite technicians monitor volume levels, uphold our standard for zero microphone feedback, and ensure safe and consistent operation of the system. Our onsite technicians also operate the lighting console if your package includes lighting.

Q: What sets Afterdance apart from other A/V companies?

A: We are a small company focused on delivering quality audio and lighting experiences. Afterdance was built by DJs, for DJs. Our size allows us to focus on a few events at a time, ensuring your event gets the attention it deserves.

Q: Is Afterdance insured?

A: Yes! We are fully-insured and can provide a COI should it be needed.

Q: Can I book Afterdance’s services without an onsite technician present at my event?

A: No. We do not provide services without one of our onsite technicians present for the duration of your event - no exceptions.

Q: Does Afterdance rent individual pieces of equipment?

A: No. We rent DJ and PA packages only.

Q: Can Afterdance setup outdoors?

A: Yes, we can. We’ll work with you to devise a rain-plan. If inclimate weather is present, the decision to operate is at the discretion of our onsite technicians. Failure to comply will result in possible repair or replacement charges if equipment is damaged due to inclamate weather.

Q: Will Afterdance do a site-visit before my event?

A: Yes, we can! We are available to meet at your venue of choice prior to your event to scope things out and walk-through details with you.

Q: Can I use my laptop running Serato, Traktor, Rekordbox, DJay, ect. with your CDJs/DJ Mixer?

A: Yes! Most DJ software is compatible with our gear. PLEASE NOTE: many software providers require a subscription to use Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus/DJM 900 Nexus hardware as these are not ‘hardware unlock’ devices. Please come prepared with your relevant subscription active. Feel free to reach out with any questions around this topic, we’re here to help!

Q: Can I use my own DJ controller

A: Yes! Our DJ PA Package and DJ PA & Lighting Package were both designed to be used with a DJ controller you provide. Your controller’s outputs will be plugged-in to our system.

Q: Does Afterdance interface with a venue’s existing A/V equipment or rented gear?

A: We are able to interface with equipment that is not ours. However, there MUST be a technician present to represent aforementioned equipment to assist us with the hand-off. We do not troubleshoot equipment that is not ours - no exceptions.

A: No, Afterdance onsite technicians are not Emcees or DJs.
